Shotokan has spread to become the most widely practised style of Karate throughout the world
Its structured training system creates self-discipline and improves behaviour in many aspects of peoples lives as well as developing fitness strength and suppleness
Congratulations to one of our Young Leaders Olivia who travelled up to Sunderland yesterday and passed her 2nd Dan grading under the watchful eyes of Sensei Frank Brennan 8th Dan and Sensei Garry Harford 8th Dan.
Our team traveled to Liverpool for the National Youth Championships, this event brings together competitors that are under 21 from clubs across Great Britain and Ireland.
The competition is always fierce and of a very high standard.
Our team performed well and conducted themselves impeccably on and off the matts.
A few special mentions, firstly to Kalinka, Lucy, Radha and Joseph who were competing for the 1st time and despite being extremely nervous gave a fantastic account of themselves.
Secondly to Thomas and Olivia who backed up their Shotokan Cup wins by taking the titles in their respective categories.
Finally to Aman who became the boys GRAND CHAMPION winning both the Kata and Kumite events.

Disappointingly due to the weather we had to cancel this year’s annual Presentation and Funday.
We usually get to celebrate the club’s successes over the past year and reward members for their dedication, perseverance and contributions which again this year included the club being awarded the best overall club at the Central Region Championships.
We had to present our special recognition awards at the dojo.
Congratulations to the following members
BLACK BELT OF THE YEAR - Olivia
BROWN BELT OF THE YEAR - Nehshaal
GREEN-P&W BELT OF THE YEAR - Zarko
YELLOW BELT AND BELOW OF THE YEAR - Shreya
LITTLE NINJA OF THE YEAR - Louie
